Consulting in Financial Ethics


The Financial Ethics group works closely with key stakeholders to have a direct impact on financial practices. Our research expertise has bearings on the ambitions and work of financial practitioners, policy makers and regulators, non-governmental organizations, as well as consumer groups.

Consulting engagements:

• Member of the reference group for Nordic Swan Ecolabel’s project with Nordic Ecolabelling of Investment funds.

• Partner in the Twice as Green project, a multi-stakeholder initiative to initiate and benchmark sustainable investment products. Led by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen) in collaboration with industry partners.

• Member of the Academic Advisory Board for the Deep Data Delivery Standards, a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at increasing the quality and transparency of ESG data.

• Report on consumers’ possibilities to make sustainable investment choices, written for the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) in 2017.

• Report on sustainability reporting benchmarks, informal report for the Swedish National Audit Office (Riksrevisionen), September 2016.

• Report on “Towards a Theory of Sustainable Finance” published by the United Nations Environment Programme, October 2015.

• Report on the impact effectiveness of sustainable investment products, published by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen) in 2015. Presented in the Swedish parliament in May 2015.

• Interviewed and quoted at length in European Commission report on resource efficiency and fiduciary duty (DG Environment ENV.F.1.ETU/2014/0002), April 2015.

 

Talks to public or private audiences:

• Joakim Sandberg talked about sustainable financial theory at the conference “Hållbara Finanser” organized by Aktuell Hållbarhet, Fond & Bank and Veckans Affärer, January 2017.

• Joakim Sandberg talked about ecolabelling of financial products at the conference “Sustainable consumption – how do we do it?” organized by Stockholm School of Economics, January 2017.
