Doctoral Studies

Our department offers postgraduate (third cycle) education in six subjects.

As Phd student you can study the following subjects:

• Theoretical Philosophy
• Practical Philosophy
• Logic
• Computational Linguistics
• General Linguistics (including Language Technology and Phonetics)
• Theory of Science

The ambition of the department is that the postgraduate studies will give a solid knowledge within the fields of philosophy, linguistics or theory of science. The studies will also give excellent skills in independent research and to publish work in international journals as well as teaching skills. In addition, our postgraduate students are trained in the crafts of modern research, as conference presentation, networking and collaboration across national, subject and language boundaries. The postgraduate students are also prepared in the art of bringing research to the community and to participate in the public debate. The postgraduate studies can be conducted on a variety of conditions, but the most common is that a graduate has a funded position from the Faculty of humanities or is working in an externally funded research project.
