New book on the ethical basis of the precautionary principle

Christian Munthe, Professor of practical philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, has just released a new book, published by Springer, entitled The Price of Precaution and the Ethics of Risk.

The book presents the result of a longstanding research effort on the ethical basis of the so-called Precautionary Principle and what these imply for the how this principle is to be understood and applied in practice. The book outlines an innovative, basic theory in the ethics of risk, which is applied to a number of practical areas, such as climate policy, biotechnology, nuclear power and the consumerist society.
