Docent lecture: Expertise, trust and professional jurisdiction

Lena Eriksson, Senior lecturer in Theory of Science, will give her "docent" lecture, with the title Expertise, trust and professional jurisdiction, on Thursday April 19. Welcome!

The lecture is open for everybody. Refreshments will be served after the lecture.

Abstract:

What happens when experts from different fields disagree, and when they must agree? And what can happen if, heaven forbid, your work does not really fit neatly into any established field? The lecture will cover transgenic potatoes, work capacity, severe mental disorders and may possibly include a human embryonic stem cell or two. The common thread is how and by whom boundaries are drawn around what the question really is and who has the legitimacy to answer it.

Date: 19 April

Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Location: Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, room T219
