  • Philosophers assist the Swedish government with guidelines for intensive care

    [26 Mar 2020] Researchers in practical philosophy at the University of Gothenburg assist the National Board of Health and Welfare in formulating new guidelines for prioritization and rationing of healthcare resources, to prepare for the possible consequences of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Christian Munthe and Erik Malmqvist contribute in several ways with expertise on public health ethics and healthcare ethics.

  • New findings on the origin of the sciences of our consciousness

    [28 Jan 2020] The big humanities research programme Representation and Reality sheds new light on how knowledge about our consciousness has evolved from antiquity through to the present day. For seven years, 19 researchers have studied how Aristotle¿s theories about human perception and cognition were developed during the Middle Ages and right up until the present day. They are now concluding this collaboration with a final report and concluding conference in Gothenburg.
