Talkamatic — dialogue management

Talkamatic is a company which products are based on research from the department. The business idea is to build and sell multi modal dialogue systems based on research on human-human dialogue. Such systems enable vehicle OEMs and their suppliers to reduce the number of controls in the vehicle, to reduce the cost of development and translation and to offer their customers a safer driver environment and a more straightforward interaction with the in-vehicle electronics.

Talkamatic was founded in February 2009 and is owned mainly by

  • Staffan Larsson, professor of computational linguistics,
  • Fredrik Kronlid, Ph.D, and former department graduate student, and
  • GU Holding AB.

Voxalys — one voice – many dimensions

Voxalys is mainly concerned with giving expertise and specialist opinions regarding forensic phonetic work by contract of Swedish police, prosecutors, defence attorneys and private businesses. Voxalys is a former knowledge company from University of Gothenburg offering a wide and extensive knowledge within the framework of forensic phonetics.

Forensic phonetics is the utilisation of, and research on speech in judicial matters. There are many fields of application such as speaker comparison (also referred to as, somewhat misleading, voice identification), transcribing of recorded speech, or speaker profiling of speakers/voices.
