Respond when the evacuation alarm sounds as it is always for real – start immediate evacuation.
Always take the closest evacuation route. Follow the green evacuation signs. Evacuation plans are posted on each floor.
Call 112 and alert them about the fire – do not forget to state where the fire alarm has gone off. If no alarm has been triggered, press the fire alarm button on the wall between the main entrance and the student offices. Inform Paula Wäne (Fire Protection Coordinator) or Linda Aronsson about the location of the fire.
Save lives in obvious danger, but do not put yourself at risk. Remember that the smoke from a fire is toxic – get out by crawling along the floor. Close windows and doors.
Warn others. Not everyone may have understood that there is an alarm.
Extinguish the fire if you consider that this can be done without taking unnecessary risks.
Fire-fighting equipment is available at many locations in the building, indicated by the evacuation plan. Fire blankets are available in each kitchen.
Get yourself to the assembly point, Renströmsgatan 6, by the sculpture on the lawn in front of the Faculty of Arts’ main building (Humanisten). Immediately notify the fire protection coordinator from the department (wearing a yellow vest) if anyone is missing. Remain at the assembly point until the emergency services have given the all-clear allowing you to leave.

Fire protection forms part of systematic work environment and safety measures. Staff and students must be well informed about local fire protection and evacuation facilities. The responsibility for systematic fire protection work follows the line organisation.
Teachers, lecturers and similar staff have a particular responsibility to lead evacuation in the event of a fire or evacuation alarm when a lesson, lecture, seminar, etc. is underway.
