About Åsa Abelin

BA in General Linguistics at Stockholm University in 1980. PhD in General Linguistics at University of Gothenburg in 1999.

Research

I do research within the areas non-arbitrariness in language, prosody and emotions, sound symbolism and foreign accent. I am interested in perception and I mainly do psycholinguistic experiments but also corpus studies.

Teaching


I teach courses in phonetics, also within the logopedics programme (see also the PIL project), psycholinguistics, non-verbal communication and foreign accent.

For a long time I taught linguistics courses at the University of Havana, within the Linnaeus-Palme interchange.
